Hemlock Farms Information

The history of Hemlock Farms begins in the years following the American Revolution. Many thousands of small farms were established in the first half of the 19th century. By the early 20th century most of the land around Hemlock Farms wound up in the preserves of the private hunting and fishing clubs. By the year 1963 the entire property was sold out to Western Heritage Properties.

Hemlock Farms is currently known as a private residential gated community located in northeast Pennsylvania, within a 4500 acre sanctuary in the Pocono mountains and surrounded by more than 8000 acres of pristine state. Hemlock Farms has about the same number of homes as the Village of Monroe, also containing four lakes, and associated wetlands and streams. There are several rules that have to be respected by the Hemlock Farms residents including: Exotic animals are not aloud; approved colors for fences are brown, dark and other earth tones; guests receive passes, which must be exposed in their vehicles at all times when on the property. Hemlock Farms is managed by its own community association, offering a Public Works Department for maintenance, garbage removal, a 24-hour Public Safety Security Patrol and a fire&ambulance team.
